Every year I rearrange the studio to give it a refresh. If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen sneak peeks of it showing up in stories already.
This year though, the challenge was made all the more tougher when I put myself on a tighter budget. I love Instagram, but sometimes the endless scroll just has you wanting so many things. Everywhere you look is beautiful products we could buy. And having the title of ‘stylist’ actually can put a bit of pressure on you to have the latest things all the time.
Sure, I would love to be able to go out and get brand new furniture as the trends change, but as a Mum with a little one and a house to do up, that isn’t a wise choice for me at the moment. I have found that I have needed to become more satisfied with the beautiful things I already have. A cull of the house to get rid of pieces I wasn’t loving anymore was put in place, and what has been left behind is a house of ‘things’ that I love and need.
For the studio though, I decided to add in a couple of extra things though just to make it feel fresh and new. I was really loving the terracotta colour that is so popular this season so I ended up getting together a bit of a concept from that. I bought some new cork boards and created new inspiration boards, added in a rubber plant, and those little changes alone have made it feel like a fresh space to be in.
I really recommend having an inspiring desk space if it is possible for you! It doesn’t have to cost the earth, but a little bit of inspiration will go a long way. Call centres and work offices can have restrictions on what you can do, but even if it is a simple cork board with some pictures for you to inspire you, you will be on your way to a more refreshed and happier work space.
