As promised, in the lead-up to Wholehearted Studio’s birthday (which happens to fall right after my actual birthday and just before Mother’s Day — I really should have spaced that out better. lol.), we’ll be sharing the stories of how Wholehearted Studio came to be.

To begin, we’re taking it right back to the VERY beginning.

I hope you enjoy a glimpse into how my love of styling came to be. And why it’s best that some of my styling got left back in the 90’s, lol. 🤎

Nearly two years in the making, Figtree came toget

Nearly two years in the making, Figtree came together piece by piece — and this is a little glimpse into one of our install days prior to shoot day. It all unfolded in stages, with the support of so many wonderful people along the way.

Styling is always a series of decisions, and when a project stretches over a long period, those decisions often need to pivot and evolve. But that’s also where the magic happens; refining and layering until everything feels just right.

Come behind the scenes with us on our latest branding shoot for @sagepropertyadvisers.

Steve, Tyler and Candace bring a wealth of experience across property buying, along with deep expertise in town planning and development. They guide and support their clients every step of the way, helping them make confident, well-informed property decisions.

On this shoot, we had the chance to sit in on client testimonials and honestly, it’s incredible what they’ve achieved for people who previously couldn’t get a foot in the door of the fast-moving South East Queensland property market.

My favourite time of year is here! I love Autumn. Slow-growing grass, cooler weather, and those crisp, sunny days.

A little story for you… it was absolutely bucketing down on the day of this shoot. But we already had the flowers and so much organised before the forecast turned, so we just had to roll with it.

We shot all the interiors that day, then came back later for the exteriors once the sun came out. And once the photos were merged together into a collection, you’d never even know.

Photos are pretty amazing like that.

This year on May 1st, Wholehearted Studio turns fo

This year on May 1st, Wholehearted Studio turns fourteen years old. If you have ever wondered how it came to be, here’s a very *rough* timeline.

It has been:

14 years since I registered the business name. Originally, the plan was for it to be a side hustle to hopefully top up maternity leave from teaching one day, if I ever got to become a Mum.

13 years since I became a Mum; and 13 years and one month since I became a solo Mum.

12 years since I let go of my old life and moved back in with Mum and Dad to try to save for a house deposit — and Mum and Dad cheered me on to save up and move back out. Lol.

11 years and 6 months since I bought my 90-year-old Queenslander, hoping that I could do it up one day.

11 years since I went back to teaching a few days a week, and built my business in the in-between, after realising full-time daycare wasn’t going to work for my son. (Shoutout to my school and bosses who were amazing to me in this time!).

9 years since I stopped teaching and went all in on my business. My son was 4.

8 years and 9 months since I won Inside Out Magazine’s Search For A Stylist competition.

6 years since it nearly all went under during the 2020 lockdowns.

4 years since I realised I really loved working for indie Australian brands, creatives and wholehearted people.

2 years since it became a company and I hired our first two employees.

It’s been a big ride.

So this month, to celebrate our upcoming birthday, I’m going to start sharing more of the moments that shaped it, because I think most people who land on our Instagram or website would assume it’s all been easy and effortless.

Because it looks like it when you see our styled and finished photos.

But the truth is, it’s been anything but perfect (scroll to photo 5 for a little proof of that).
