You may have heard about the Mother’s Day Workshop that I recently hosted for Noosa Civic Shopping Centre and I was so excited about this one. I was excited not only because the attendees were competition winners, but because the workshop subject was one of my all time favourites; Styling Vignettes.
I spend weeks in preparation, sourcing items from the amazing stores at Noosa Civic [shout out to the fab teams at Noosa Adairs and Pillow Talk], to use alongside a great mix of vintage and handmade items from my own styling collection.
I chose to work with a neutral palette to appeal to as many attendees as possible. This also made it easier to focus directly on the stying principles themselves. So natural ceramics, beige tones and a hint of terracotta were our backdrop for the day. Alongside beautiful dried flower arrangements by Yukari Botanicals, which doubled as gifts for the mums.
One of my main goals with each workshop is to teach as succinctly as possible, and pack as much valuable content into the allocated time so that people can head home and create some more. As well as everyone having a great time and going home armed with simple, practical tools.
It’s easy for me to focus a lot on preparing for a workshop [ask my friends, I’m a prepare, prepare and prepare some more kind of gal], that I forget how much fun they really are. But without fail, within moments I soon remember why I love workshops so much: the people! Some attendees had driven as far as Bribie Island to be there, and everyone was so lovely and supportive. So much so I actually forgot we were in a shopping centre! Thanks for having me Noosa Civic, already looking forward to my next workshop and meeting more new faces.
