Ever since I did a post the other week about my ho Ever since I did a post the other week about my house being a shoot location, I’ve had lots of people asking questions about my house again. So! If you’re new here… here’s the long story short: solo Mum (me) with a 9-month-old baby, convinced a bank manager to loan her money to buy a 90-year-old Queenslander, started renovating it, and built a styling business at the same time. Then, after I’d renovated it a little bit, it got written about in a local magazine. When that magazine came out, it was dropped off at a local cafe. The son of the first lady to ever live here and his wife saw the article while having a cuppa, recognised the front door, and emailed me! Next thing I knew, they were coming over for morning tea. They told me all about the history of my house, Mrs Bennett, the first lady to live here, and then gave me a collection of photos of my house through the years. And then they dropped off the original dining chair that belonged to the family. I couldn’t have dreamed this story up even if I tried. It was like the movie ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’, but a Nambour version, lol. Anyways… since settling into my role as Creative Director and Stylist here at Wholehearted Studio, and being busy working on shoots myself, it is so rewarding to now get to share my artisan Queenslander as a shoot location. Founded by Emily Berlach here in Australia means you’re supporting an Australian family biz. @robbii_designs such a beautiful store and worth a visit even if you have to make a drive! My beautiful Mum who made this doll for me to gift to someone. Mum has made a lot of our sourdough, and handmade things for our shoots this year. There is nothing Grandma Rosie can’t do! @saide.au candle looking beautiful on a very special shoot. Grateful for the independent brands that collaborate with me on our shoots! My new @walnutmelbourne shoot day shoes - I’m trying to re-invigorate my own style and so far I am loving it! Still working on being more colourful. Shoot prep that had me dreaming of beachy holidays! Made it into @homebeautiful’s top 100 rooms with @hannahadamsproperty 🥹 My latest marketplace find that cost $15 and a day on YouTube learning how to re-upholster it with fabric I had spare. Surf checks! Water and sky was blue. Wind was fringe destroying. Swell was biggish. ✔️ Ten minute tea breaks in the studio with Sarah and Em. ✨ @saltliving shoot props in the studio thanks to @bylaurenhorton 💙 Another reinvigorated outfit, old @sportsgirl dress made over with a new cardi. 🎈 Rainforest walks with my not so little boy. 🥹 Grateful for our beautiful studio! Got to work with @hannahpuechmarin lots this year and I’ve loved it! Cute chats with my son who has discovered messenger stickers. 😆
One of the highlights of the past few months was b One of the highlights of the past few months was being invited to style this beautifully restored Queenslander on the shores of Lake Weyba for its editorial debut in @countrystylemag. I first heard about Matt and Bec’s vision for the home years ago and knew it was something special. After a long renovation journey, stepping into the finished space was a joy — it is obvious in every detail that so much thought and consideration has been put into this project to reflect their family, their story, and the way they live. So as promised here is some behind-the-scenes of what I’ve been working on right now! First up is our website. I hope you enjoy hearing about some of the thinking behind our website imagery curation.
