We acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi people, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations.

This year on May 1st, Wholehearted Studio turns fo This year on May 1st, Wholehearted Studio turns fourteen years old. If you have ever wondered how it came to be, here’s a very *rough* timeline.

It has been:

14 years since I registered the business name. Originally, the plan was for it to be a side hustle to hopefully top up maternity leave from teaching one day, if I ever got to become a Mum.

13 years since I became a Mum; and 13 years and one month since I became a solo Mum.

12 years since I let go of my old life and moved back in with Mum and Dad to try to save for a house deposit — and Mum and Dad cheered me on to save up and move back out. Lol.

11 years and 6 months since I bought my 90-year-old Queenslander, hoping that I could do it up one day.

11 years since I went back to teaching a few days a week, and built my business in the in-between, after realising full-time daycare wasn’t going to work for my son. (Shoutout to my school and bosses who were amazing to me in this time!).

9 years since I stopped teaching and went all in on my business. My son was 4.

8 years and 9 months since I won Inside Out Magazine’s Search For A Stylist competition.

6 years since it nearly all went under during the 2020 lockdowns.

4 years since I realised I really loved working for indie Australian brands, creatives and wholehearted people.

2 years since it became a company and I hired our first two employees.

It’s been a big ride.

So this month, to celebrate our upcoming birthday, I’m going to start sharing more of the moments that shaped it, because I think most people who land on our Instagram or website would assume it’s all been easy and effortless.

Because it looks like it when you see our styled and finished photos.

But the truth is, it’s been anything but perfect (scroll to photo 5 for a little proof of that).

Part two coming soon!

P.S. Let us know if there are any questions or topics you’d like to hear about and I will try to cover it in the coming weeks.
This shoot felt really special to style. @hannahbe This shoot felt really special to style. @hannahbeaden has created a home that is so full of colour, creativity and personality, but in a way that just feels effortless and completely her and her family.

There are so many layers to her home; pieces collected over time, art, texture, all coming together in a way that doesn’t feel overthought or ‘cataloguey’, just really considered and cool.

This video is a little look at the in-between moments; moving objects around, stepping back, reworking, and letting it all settle into place. Checking the shots. It’s never purely about perfection, more so about it feeling right.

Earlier this year, I found myself thinking more ab Earlier this year, I found myself thinking more about the noise we’re all met with every time we pick up our phones.

So much of what we scroll past isn’t meaningful — it doesn’t really stay with us, or add anything of value. Things move quickly, and our inboxes are constantly full.

It made me pause and ask: if this were the last newsletter someone read, or the last post they came across, would it offer something worthwhile?

That question has inspired a whole new approach to how I share in our monthly newsletter.

It’s less about polished headlines and more about the moments behind the scenes; the process, the heart behind decisions, the details that often go unseen.

Think of it as an open journal (like Substack perhaps; but free?) — part love letter to the work, part insight into how it all comes together.

Figtree will forever be etched in our hearts! This Figtree will forever be etched in our hearts! This project enquiry came in right after all the lockdowns, and I was so excited to work on such a beautiful home.

Over the course of about two years, we carefully married existing pieces, with vintage heirloom pieces; and new furniture, objects and art, to create a home that feels full of warmth and personalised character.

Scroll to see some of our favourite scenes in Figtree; recently published in Home Beautiful magazine.

If you’d like us to style your home and get it ready for a shoot day, get in touch with us.

Pulling the curtain back on our shoot for @kateadd Pulling the curtain back on our shoot for @kateaddamo and @adrianaddamo. The photos that we were creating were to update the website, socials, emails... and their new joint venture, their podcast.

Can’t wait to watch this all unfold!

P.S. Adrian is a high performance coach and has his Limitless Mens Retreat coming up, April 16th-19th 2026. I have heard such wonderful things about these retreats, if you are (or know) a man that would love this retreat then visit his socials to find out more.

New styling work for @dominomag, featuring the bea New styling work for @dominomag, featuring the beautifully creative home of @hannahbeaden and her family.

A thoughtful fusion of new, handmade, and vintage pieces, Hannah and her husband Sam have curated a home that feels both personal and creative; a space that truly reflects the way their family lives.

Styling a shoot with our team for a New York–based magazine… in a home my school bus used to drive past every day felt like a real full-circle moment for me!
