We acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi people, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations.

We have so many new people following along, I thou We have so many new people following along, I thought it might be nice to share a little piece of the history of my home, @oxleighhouse.

For those who don’t know, I bought the house for its character — the build quality was solid, and I knew a fresh coat of paint would make a big difference. The original plan was always to renovate and rent it out or sell in a few years.

But once I moved in, I met my neighbour Jean, who had lived here since the 1950s. She showed me old photos of the house and shared the stories she knew about it. I was completely smitten.

Then, a magazine featured me alongside other women restoring their homes in my local area; and the son and his wife of the first lady who ever owned the house happened to read it in a café, recognised my front door, and tracked me down.

They came for morning tea and shared as much as they could about the house, including memories of Mrs Bennett, the kindhearted Mum and who raised her children here after her husband sadly passed away.

They gifted me these beautiful photographs, along with the original dining chair from the home.

Take a little look through these beauties:

1. My house and my neighbour Jean’s home in the 60s, hanging up framed in my house today
2. The earliest photo we have of the house (1930s/40s)
3. Mr and Mrs Bennett on my front lawn celebrating

I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into the history of this home as much as I’ve loved uncovering it.

If you have a beautiful home with history and would love it styled or photographed, please reach out, I would love to hear from you.
Shooting this beautiful Woolstore Apartment in Bri Shooting this beautiful Woolstore Apartment in Brisbane, and especially the bedroom, was all about slowing down and noticing the details.

What made this room so special were the personal pieces — objects collected on travels by owners Jesse and Alastair, found in flea markets, and uncovered in antique stores; each one carrying its own quiet story.

Not every home needs to be styled from scratch. So Not every home needs to be styled from scratch. Sometimes it’s about working with what’s already there, bringing in a light layer of props, and knowing how to bring it to life on camera.

This shoot was a perfect example of that.

@hannahbeaden’s home is layered in the best way — with colour, art, texture, and quirky pieces collected over time. Nothing feels forced or overly styled; just really personal, relaxed and well-considered.

Our role was to step into that and refine it for the lens. Shifting things, simplifying where needed, adding where it made sense, and constantly stepping back to make sure it all felt right.

Because that’s the difference between styling for real life vs. styling for a shoot; it’s not about perfection, it’s about capturing a feeling. Ideally, a feeling of calm… even when there are three kids, one on the way, and animals that still need to be fed.

If you’ve got a shoot coming up and want it to feel natural and elevated, but true to you, we’d love to be part of it. Email us to find out more about our Creative Direction and Styling services.

There is a lot of work that goes into getting a ho There is a lot of work that goes into getting a house shoot-ready.

And if you know me, or have been to my home, you’ll know I like to be ready for a shoot every day. I've tried really hard to be one of those messy creatives, but it just doesn't seem to stick.

So it seemed like a good idea to list @oxleighhouse as a shoot location.

We’ve hosted Ziggy Alberts, James Lane, Carlotta + Gee, Flint, and Petal & Pup. It’s been so exciting to see the house reimagined through other people’s eyes and creativity.

If you’d like to use the house for one of your shoots, message me for a chat or book via the link in our bio.

P.S. I look forward to being able to blame my tidiness on your shoot! Lol.

What an honour it was to have our Figtree Project What an honour it was to have our Figtree Project featured in Australian Home Beautiful magazine.

Figtree is a home I’m incredibly proud of. Working closely with our clients, we oversaw the furniture, art and object curation, as well as the shoot styling.

A home that reflects them, their children and grandchildren, with their family story woven into every detail.

If you’re wanting your home interior thoughtfully styled and photographed, we’d love to chat about how we can help bring your story to life.
