Instagram gets a bad wrap sometimes. Yes, we proba Instagram gets a bad wrap sometimes. Yes, we probably spend too much time on our phones, and yes, it can feel like an endless stream of ads on here at times. But for me, it’s also been the place where a late-night rabbit-hole scroll has led me to some of the most incredible people; the kind you just know you were meant to meet. Kate Addamo was one of those people. At the time, I was deep in the search for a business coach. I had so many ideas for where I wanted to take my business, but I knew I needed someone who could help keep me accountable and bring some clarity to it all. Then one day I spotted a photo of Kate on someone else’s account. It looked like a beautiful country-style shoot, so naturally I went digging. Three Instagram accounts later, I finally found my way to @kateaddamo. Within ten minutes of scrolling through her posts and jumping over to her website, I knew I’d found ‘the one’! Kate is a mentor and business strategist for stylists and creatives, as well as a podcast host and curator of events for creative business leaders. Before I knew it, we were on the phone; and more than a year later, to say she’s changed the way I approach both life and work would be an understatement. So you can imagine my excitement when she asked if I’d jump on board to help style her upcoming shoot... one with a completely fresh creative direction she’d been dreaming up. She was getting ready for a new style, that was truly her... a NEW her! Like some shoot days, not everything went to plan. There were a few hurdles along the way thanks to Brisbane City roadworks causing unexpected parking chaos, and 36-degree heat doing its best to test the flowers. Shot 3 - Coffee brainstorm date with the studio team (dreaming ideas for clients and us!) Shot 4 - My magnolia tree in fine form. Shot 5 - My favourite display at @countryroad. Shot 6 - Flower haul for a shoot that landed near Valentines day and a lot of people thought I had bought them for myself.
